Green Army Conducts Inspection with DFO; Tree Plantation on the Hill Adjacent to the Pond in the First Phase

Development to Follow the ‘Shankargarh Model’… Rajanal Hill Set to Become a Green Heritage Site

Following the successful pattern of Shankargarh Hill—which has become a defining landmark of the city—preparations have now begun to adorn Rajanal Hill with lush greenery. Initiatives in this direction by the Forest Department and environmental enthusiasts have gained momentum. On Wednesday, a team comprising the ‘Green Army’ and environmentalists, led by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), inspected the Rajanal Hill area and drafted a blueprint for plantation activities. Under this plan, the first phase will involve planting saplings on the hill situated adjacent to the Rajanal Pond. The project will commence with seed sowing during the monsoon season, followed by the phased planting of saplings across the hill region. Through this initiative, work has begun to transform Rajanal Hill into a new hub for green tourism and environmental conservation for the city in the near future.

Theme-Based Gardens to be Developed on the Hill:
To enhance the aesthetic appeal of Rajanal Hill, plans have been formulated to develop various theme-based gardens and specialized green spaces. Given the availability of water resources within the hill region, the prospects for the successful growth of the planted vegetation are considered high.

Emphasis on Native Species
According to Jadhav, trees such as Neem, Palash, and Sheesham are currently the dominant species found on the hill. Keeping this in mind, future efforts will focus primarily on the sowing of seeds and planting of saplings belonging to these very native species. Furthermore, as the Rajanal Pond serves as a vital water source for the city, plantation activities in this area are expected to contribute not only to maintaining ecological balance but also to improving the local groundwater levels.

Attendees Present During the Inspection

Those present during the inspection included Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Amit Chauhan; Kailash Chandawat, Co-convener of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) Environmental Wing (Malwa Province); environmental activist Pravesh Vijayvargiya from Bhopal; and members of the ‘Green Army,’ including Yash Panchal, Dinesh Singh Chauhan, and others.
