ADG states: Responsibility extends beyond merely planting saplings to nurturing them into full-grown trees; over 200 police personnel, forest staff, and the ‘Green Army’ participated.
This time, the police were seen on a mission to protect nature rather than maintain law and order. Aiming to transform environmental conservation into a mass movement, the Madhya Pradesh Police conducted a massive plantation drive on Friday at Shankargarh Hill in Dewas, planting 1,008 saplings. Around 200 members from the police force, the Forest Department, and the ‘Green Army’ contributed voluntary labor to plant the saplings and pledged to ensure their protection. ADG (Rail) Raja Babu Singh was specially present at the event. He was joined in the plantation drive by several senior officials, including MP Housing Board Chairman Om Jain, Collector Rituraj Singh, SP (Rail) Yashpal Singh, SP (Dewas) Puneet Gehlot, Municipal Commissioner Dalip Kumar, and DFO Amit Chauhan.
During the drive, officials planted saplings themselves and emphasized that environmental conservation is not solely a government responsibility but an obligation for every individual in society. They noted that planting saplings is merely the first step; true success lies in safeguarding them until they mature into full-grown trees.
Shankargarh and Tekri Emerge as New Symbols of Greenery
Speaking to *Dainik Bhaskar*, ADG (Rail) Raja Babu Singh stated that continuous plantation drives are being carried out on Shankargarh Hill and Maa Chamunda Tekri by the district administration, police, Forest Department, ‘Green Army,’ and social organizations. This collective effort will make these hills much greener in the coming years and serve as a shining example of environmental conservation.
He also urged citizens to plant saplings at their homes, in their neighborhoods, and in public spaces, and to ensure their regular care.
A Pledge for Greenery, A Message for a Secure Future
At the event, officials remarked that trees are not merely sources of oxygen but also form a strong foundation for water conservation, biodiversity, and a secure future for generations to come. Amidst changing environmental conditions, large-scale tree plantation and their conservation have become the most pressing need of the hour. The event was conducted by Shashikant Chaurasia, Station In-charge of the Industrial Police Station. Dignitaries present on the occasion included ASP Gajendra Singh Vardhman, CSP Sumit Agrawal, and Station In-charges (TIs) Preeti Katare, Amit Solanki, and Pawan Bagdi, alongside a large number of police personnel, Forest Department officials, and volunteers from the ‘Green Army’.
